When I go to Oregon, I can usually depend on trying a never-before-tasted beer. Never, however, did I expect to discover the smoothest, freshest vodka. I've always been loyal to Grey Goose, but Rain Organics just might give the Goose a run for its money. I was hanging out with some pals at Rennie's, a local college bar on the University of Oregon's campus in Eugene. I don't do sugary sweet drinks, but I don't like bourbons or tequilas either. And rum is like a sedative, while beer goes straight to the tum-tum. So that leaves me with not many options. Basically, I just drink vodka-soda or extra dirty vodka martinis. But I felt like changing it up. So, the bartender suggested a Cucumber vodka cocktail. I thought that sounded amazing! And sure enough, it was! Rain vodka (which I hadn't heard of until this drink was made) makes this amazing cucumber lime vodka flavor, which is not only delish, but it's organic (I know many of you take great pleasure knowing that little tidbit). The line also makes some other light unique flavors, including Honey Mango Melon, Red Grape Hibiscus and Lavendar Lemonade.
RECOMMENDATION WITHIN A RECOMMENDATION:
Make sure you get a cucumber garnish to top off the drink. But also, make sure the servings are half flavored vodka and half regular. This vodka still does taste slightly sugary, so too much can be overload. Anyway, with that said, I'd say half a shot of cucumber lime vodka + half a shot of regular vodka + soda water + cucumber slice garnish = delight. Please try and let me know!
PRICE: $18.99
